Kevin Maxwell Hughes has had an extensive and unique career in the
downstream sector of the Australian petroleum industry.

He commenced his career with the Shell Co of Australia Ltd, holding
several senior marketing management roles, including District Sales
Manager, State Manager Shell Chemicals and Regional Manager.
All of the petroleum executive positions encompassed marketing
management roles.

Following his resignation from Shell, Kevin established the petroleum
wholesale marketing and distribution company, Hughes Petroleum Pty
Ltd, headquartered in Western Sydney.

This highly successful wholesale petroleum marketing company, sold
and distributed Shell petroleum products to service stations, commercial
accounts, primary producers and government, and operated its own fleet
of delivery vehicles and network of Service Stations. The Company was sold to Shell after (8) years of successful operation.

During this period Kevin was actively involved in the petroleum employer group – The Australian Petroleum Agents & Distributors Association (APADA), of which he was a NSW Founding Director and

National President for three terms and was elected to the Board of the Australian oil industry specialist insurance company – OAMPS LTD, (non-executive) a position he held for (14) years.

Following the sale of Hughes Petroleum, Kevin commenced the petroleum consultancy company – HEH Australian Petroleum Consultancy Co, offering advice and assistance to Service Station operators, petroleum distributors, major oil companies and undertaking contract management project roles.

Additionally, Kevin has acted as an advisor to the Federal Government and was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Fuel Tax Inquiry, the Ethanol Task Force and has been active in negotiations with the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, and the Department for Environment Australia.

At State Government level, Kevin has been an advisor to the Minister for the NSW Department of Fair Trading on its Motor Trades Advisory Council (MTAC) and has served on the Peak Body of the NSW EPA and as a Committee Member on a Workcover Reference Group. He is a well known and respected oil industry media commentator and is the editor and publisher of the Australian Petroleum Marketer News (APMN).
